Custom Created Arwen Inspired Silk Vevelt Gown Debbie in custom Arwen style dress

Like the ensembles below, this was a custom ordered gown inspired by Arwen's Blood Red Dress in RotK.  This version of the dress was created as an all-in-one dress rather than two separate layers (full undergown and sliplike over gown).  The half circle lower sleeves are a more functional length than on the original gown, keeping the elegance of the look but facilitating easier use of the hands at events.    

The gown was made from midnight blue and red silk velvet.  The upper sleeves and collar are a rich red brocade with antiqued gold flower and plantlike designs woven throughout.  There are gold venise lace overlays at collar and elbow.  The sleeves and bodice areas are lined with a red slipper satin for beauty, durability and structure.
Blood Red Arwen Inspired Gown

Like the ensemble to the right, this was a custom ordered gown inspired by Arwen's Blood Red Dress in RotK.  This dress was created as an all-in-one dress rather than two separate layers and made from the same fabrics.  The upper sleeves and collar are rich red brocade with antiqued gold flower and plantlike designs woven throughout with lace and trim overlays at collar and elbow.

The half circle lower sleeves are a more functional length and are made from fully lined silk-like scarlet 100% rayon velvet.

 The "overgown" is blue-black 100% rayon velvet  - so dark the blue just shimmers in the highlights.
Gown Inspired by Artwen's Blood Red Dress
This was a custom ordered gown ensemble inspired by Arwen's Blood Red Dress in RotK.  The under layer is a rich brocade with antiqued gold flower and plantlike designs woven throughout with lace and trim overlays at collar and elbow.  Undergown sleeves are 45" long half circles of fully lined silk-like scarlet 100% rayon velvet.  The overgown is blue-black 100% rayon velvet so dark the blue seems to shimmer in the highlights.  The neckline of the overgown is edged with the undergown brocade fabric.

Blood Red Arwen Inspired Dress
Sapphire Velveteen Inspired Arwen Dress The Arwen style gown to the left was created from sapphire velveteen with sheer silver lower sleeves and silver flowering vine trim on the sleeves and embellishing the decorative belt.  Created from the customer's sketch, this collaborative effort can not be *exactly* replicated.

The Arwen style gown to the right was created for a music video out of sapphire blue silk velvet, and featured a train and decorative metal belt.

Arwen Inspired Farewell Gown Arch Dress LOTR Inspired Gown
Based on Arwen's Farewell Gown, this dress set was made from periwinkle ming brocade with silver embroidery on the front yoke (alas, the lighting in this picture does not allow it to be seen) and back of neck. Silver knot buttons and loops close the front bodice and the overgown gracefully drapes open at the curved hem.  The lavender undergown is 100% silk satin, and the 100% silk dupioni obi was shot black and fuschia, giving a shimmering plum appearance.  The design on the dupioni sash was embroidered in silver thread.

We can not replicate this gown as the fabrics are no longer available.
Based on Arwen's Arch Dress, this gown with short train was made from periwinkle 100% silk organza and fully lined in pale pink 100% silk satin.  The interplay of the two colored layers shimmers between blue and purple.  This romantic gown is embroidered with gold flowers and leaves at the neckline and sleeve join.  Gold ribbon at waist not included - it was for photo purposes only.
Cranberry Silk Velvet Requirem Gown and Cloak
Shown here with a silvery gray silk velvet requiem cloak, this Arwen inspired Cranberry Gown was created from silk velvet and fully lined with matching 100% silk satin.  There is silvery gray trim gracing the neckline and sleeve join, and pearl and beaded trim at the sleeve join.

Elrond Style Embroidered Silk Ensemble

Inspired by Elrond's various outfits, this gold silk dupioni robe is embroidered in dark gold threads at the sleeve ends, yoke, shoulders and petal shaped hem.  Red silk dupioni sash belt laces with gold cord through matching grommets at the back, front of belt drape is embroidered in a dark gold art nouveau motif.  A matching pair of red silk dupioni drawstring pants are worn underneath the robe.

This outfit requires between 4-12 weeks lead time to create, depending on the time of year and our current production schedule.  If you need this ensemble for Halloween, it must be ordered prior to August 1st to ensure that we have time to special order materials in your choice of colors, embroider and create the outfit.  Cost for this outfit is $650 for the embroidered silk robe and sash drape, silk obi and silk drawstring pants.  A matching or contrasting unlined silk velvet over-robe would cost an additional $180.  Shipping is additional, and is based on your location relative to Virginia.  For more information about our Custom Order process, please visit our Custom Orders page.
Elrond Inspired Ensemble in Autumnal Shades Inspired by elven outfits worn by Elrond, this ensemble is created in autumnal hues.  The under-robe is  sunset 100% silk dupioni with shot threads of red and gold, and is embroidered in dark gold threads at the sleeve ends, yoke, shoulders and petal shaped hem.  The red 100% silk dupioni sash belt laces with gold cord through matching grommets at the back, while the front of belt drape is embroidered in a dark gold motif.  A matching red silk dupioni panel was worn underneath this robe.  The over-robe has wrapped petal shaped sleeves and is made from bright red silk velvet.

Silver and Green Elrond

Custom created Elrond style outfit.  The under-robe was made from silver silk dupioni embroidered with dark emerald green threads.  The dark emerald green silk dupioni obi and sash were embroidered with metallic silver thread.   The over-robe was made from machine washable green velvet.  This outfit also featured a set of matching dark emerald duipioni silk drawstring pants.
Celeborn Inspired Ensemble with Hand Dyed Silk Vevlet Robe

Celeborn inspired ensemble: under robe is made from silver silk dupioni, the over-robe is hand dyed blue silk velvet with hints of purple and flashes of silver highlights.  The plum fern and leaf brocade sash belt laces at the back through silver grommets with silver cord and more silver cording runs through a leaf clasp at the center front.  The over robe and under robe have wrapped petal/leaf shaped sleeves. Inspired by the elven outfit worn by Celeborn, this ensemble is created in a striking combination of red and black.  The under-robe is  burgundy 100% silk dupioni with shot threads of red and black.  The black 100% silk dupioni sash belt laces with black cord through matching grommets at the back, and the front of belt drape is embellished with a silver tone clasp and cording.  The robe was created from black silk velvet, with petal shaped wrap-around sleeves.
Aquatic Elven Outfit This custom ordered ensemble was inspired by elves and an aquatic theme. The under robe fabric was a moire like rippling water with tone on tone leaves and silver cording at the sleeve and garment hem. The translucent lightweight silk over-robe was hand dyed from white to pale blue with silver leaves. The over robe bell sleeves can be gathered up with a blue shell shaped button and loop. A pewter scallop brooch and silver silk dupioni sash belt with cords, iridescent soap bubble like accents, beach glass beads and seashells complete the look.

Above:  A custom ordered Legolas style ensemble made from silver 100% silk dupioni for the undertunic (backless like the original for better range of motion) with lace up sleeves and decorative S shaped closures, and a two-tone embroidered jerkin made from 100% cotton to be worn in a hot summer climate.

Requiem Style Silk Velvet Cloak Requiem Cloak Hood Detail
Inspired by the elven cloaks worn while travelling to the Western Sea, this unlined silk velvet version of the Requiem Cloak can be custom made in your choice of colors (see our Custom Orders page for currently available silk velvets, or inquire about the availability of other colors).  This silk velvet cloak is approximately a half circle in volume with 184" at the hem, and curved shoulders which allows the cloak to drape closed in the center front.  The uniquely designed "M" shaped hood drapes in rich folds around the face and has points that tuck in at the nape of the neck on each side.  Variations of this are currently available on our Cloaks for Sale page.

Mirkwood Embroidered Tunic

This was a custom order for cloak-tunic and silk tunic sets inspired by the Elves.  It is created from cotton velvet, with the cloak lining in silver silk, and is worn over a silver silk long tunic with embroidered standing collar.  The multicolored woodland embroidery is created on multiple layers of silk, some of which is hand dyed for a fade effect.

 Gil-Galad Inspired Embroidered Silk Cloak Tunic

This cloak tunic set is composed of an Aztec gold silk undertunic with navy piping and star collar embroidery under a sapphire blue cotton velvet cloak tunic lined in the same Aztec gold silk.  The embroidery was implemented on medium blue silk in gold and silver.

Elven Style Wool Cloak

Elven style Stansborough Gotland wool cloak.  This was made as an individual custom order from the intricately designed handwoven fabric!

You can find out more about this beautiful fabric at the Stansborough Gotland website - they now offer these cloaks made from the fabric used in the film as licensed replicas.
Complete Frodo Style Ensemble Frodo Style Shirt and Pants
This custom ordered hand made ensemble inspired by Frodo in Lord of the Rings included: halfling style semifelted wool herringbone woven hunter green cloak with leather buttons and self lined hood, hand dyed chocolate and russet herringbone woven wool frock coat lined with cotton twill and with a chocolate brown cotton velvet collar and facing, chocolate cotton velvet buttoned fall trousers with pockets at the side seams, handmade and weathered suspenders, rust cotton velvet waistcoat with ring pocket and two lower on-seam pockets and linen shirt with vintage German linen and thread ring formed buttons and machine stitched pinstriping detail on the sleeves and cuffs.   These exact materials are no longer available.

Guard of the Citadel Surcoat

 Guard of the White City Embroidered Cotton Surcoat
Inspired by Pippin's Guard of the Citadel surcoat, this black 100% cotton velvet surcoat features an embroidered metallic silver tree and stars and is edged with silver and black knotwork trim.   There are two possible embroidery designs for this surcoat, as noted in the pictures above.  SLEEVES are not included - they are on a garment worn under the surcoat as shown directly below.

Bo Inspired Undertunic This undertunic is modelled after Boromir's undertunic as seen in the Weapons and Warfare book (it's excellent - if you don't own it already, this is a MUST HAVE reference book).  Michael at Grove Maille created lightweight aluminum chain maille lower sleeves for us that will not tarnish.

The quilted gambeson undersleeves are embroidered with silver stars.  The maille and gambeson sleeves are hand stitched to the black leather upper sleeve.  The main body of the tunic is a soft felted black wool and matte black grommets provide a secure center front closure.

We currently can not recreate this item as a custom order.

Boromir Style Hand Dyed and Embroidered Silk Satin Tunic Boromir Style Hand Dyed and Embroidered Silk Satin Tunic

This Boromir inspired tunic was created as a custom order from hand dyed burgundy silk satin with a black crush and spot resistant velvet collar.  A series of gold dots were embroidered on the sleeves, then 98 beads were individually hand sewn in place in a pattern similar to the original.  Gold Venise lace was cut and appliqued at the hem of the self-lined sleeves and onto a background of the hand dyed silk to make a trim for the collar.

Bormir Inspired Outfit


 Boromir Inspired Silk Shirt
Boromir inspired 100% silk satin tunic with gold metal wirework embroidery embellishment and rectangular button closures.  The standing collar is black silk velvet trimmed with more wirework embroidery.  The above red fabric was hand embroidered in India for this customer.

Shown below is a full length picture of the silk tunic and our version of the Fellowship cloak made from burnout silk velvet trimmed with real fur and lined with black satin.  The fabric that we used for this cloak is no longer commercially available.  

Leather surcoat and bracers supplied by the model. We do not create leather garments as custom orders, and do not make chain maille or the metal components shown with this costume.

The fabrics shown in the photos just above are not available, so we can not re-create this outfit exactly as shown.

 Custom ordered Ithilian Ranger's Captain Surcoat



Custom ordered olive green raw silk surcoat with silver on black trim and standing collar.   This particular garment was based on the olive green surcoat worn by the Captain of the Ithilien Rangers in TTT and ROTK.  

Armor and leather accessories provided by the model.  We do not create leather garments as custom orders.
Faramir Inspired Ensemble

Inspired by Faramir's Coronation outfit, the parts we made included the undertunic described to the right, a navy blue silk velvet surcoat with golden beaded trim, and a navy blue silk velvet cloak lined with silk satin and hand and machine embroidered on the front opening with silver thread.  The cloak was further embellished with silver wirework embroidery within the flower centers.  


 Faramir Inspired Coronation Sleeve Detail

The Coronation undertunic was made from a silk/linen blend with sleeves, collar, and facings of dark blue shot silk dupioni that was twin stitched in gold thread in a grid.  At the intersections of the grid were one gold cup sequin and one ruby colored glass bead.

There were over 300 beads and 300 sequins and each sleeve took 3.5 hours for the hand beading alone. The gold cording at the sleeve hem and collar was couched on after that part of the garment was completed.

Based on Faramir's Houses of Healing outfit, this ensemble featured an undertunic made from a silk/linen blend with sleeves, collar, and facings of dark blue shot silk dupioni that was twin stitched in gold thread in a grid.  This version was not embellished with sequins and beads.  The surcoat was made from dark blue cotton velvet.

Shown below is a hand smocked version of the same shirt, created from black linen that was then color stripped once the smocking details (consisting of more than 10,000 hand done stitches) were completed.

Aragorn Black Gate Style Costume

Custom ordered Aragorn inspired ensemble based on the costume worn at the Black Gate included a red linen shirt with black hand stitched detailing around the neckline as seen in Two Towers, red cotton velvet surcoat with gold piping and gold embroidered motif on the collar along with the three hand cast white tree pewter buttons (see our Buttons for Sale page), a black pleather surcoat with embroidered silver tree and gold piping, and a rectangular cloak in black cotton velvet lined in red - held on with snaps for versatility for the customer and embellished with a one of a kind find of shield shaped ornaments at the shoulder.

We will not be replicating this surcoat in leather or pleather.

Theoden Inspired Outfit Detail
 Theoden inspired costume ensemble: gold embroidered brown cotton velvet jerkin; burgundy and black linen undertunic with embroidery on yoke, collar, and attached "gauntlet" cuffs; and half circle hunter wool flannel cloak lined with burgundy satin and trimmed with gold braid. This version also included a one-of-a-kind hand-made leather belt with Celtic themed brass tip and buckle that cannot be replicated.

There are over a quarter of a million embroidered stitches in this ensemble! We used various references to carefully digitize these designs for embroidering.  The "gauntlet" cuff design was not clearly visible enough in references to digitize, so we used a horse-themed design instead.
Due to the extensive embroidery and labor time involved in this outfit,
this ensemble costs $2600 plus shipping cost and requires 12 weeks lead time to create.


Eowyn Inspired Wool Travelling Coat

Eowyn inspired wool and fake fur coat fully lined with cotton twill.  It closes at the front with 11 vintage brass buttons and an antique silver brooch.  A similar coat fully lined with vintage style buttons (no brooch) would cost around $385.

 Eowyn's Green Gown

Based on the Green Gown Eowyn wears in the extended version of TTT, the gown to the left was created from olive green cotton and olive and gold brocade with an intricate woven leaf and vine design.  The contrasting collar facing and oval detail are made from an ivory and old gold brocade in the same woven leaf and vine pattern as the olive brocade and has gold embroidered accents. 
Starry Mantle Inspired Embroidered Midnight Blue Wool Cloak Eowyn Inspired Funeral Dress
Inspired by the Houses of Healing in ROTK, but based on the canon description of Finduilas' starry mantle that Faramir gave to Eowyn, this midnight blue 100% wool flannel mantle is embroidered with over a thousand silver stars around the front opening and neckline.  It has no closure, but the curved shoulder seams help it remain on the shoulders. 

This starry mantle is fully lined in coordinating silver satin, and is available as a custom order.

 Inspired by Eowyn's Funeral Gown from TTT, this gown was created from hand dyed deep sapphire blue silk velvet with sapphire and gold shot brocade at the neckline, lining the sleeves, and as the false "underskirt" visible through the split at the left front.  It is accented by a metal belt and brooch with blue stone.

Eowyn Costume Back

Deceptively simple looking, this Sheildmaiden inspired outfit is amongst the most complex of costumes that we have ever created.

The under-dress is made from 100% crinkle silk jacquard that has pin-tucks and gold embroidery at the neckline.  The bicep areas of the sleeves are wrapped in hand-braided cording with a single gold thread interwoven.  The skirt is made from the same silk jacquard that was hand-dyed to chestnut brown.  There are 15 yards of silk in this outfit.

The brown wool bodice/vest has gold embroidered faux suede sleeve caps and neck facing.  The quilted faux suede waist cincher has multiple rows of embroidery, boning for structure, and 22 brass 2-piece grommets in the back for lacing.

There are nearly 100,000 embroidery stitches in this outfit!  Due to the embroidery designs being both directional and curved, each stitch you see here had to be individually digitized.

Due to the special materials used, this outfit cannot be exactly re-created, but a similarly embroidered and embellished outfit using comparable materials will cost $2800 plus shipping cost and will require a 12 week lead time to create.

Shieldmaiden with a twist! 

This custom created gown was inspired by Eowyn's shieldmaiden outfit, with the substitution of rose colored cotton for the movie's cream silk undergown and a coordinating trim rather than gold embroidery on the dark brown cotton velvet bodice and waist cincher.  Waist cincher has been quilted in a grid pattern, and the undergown has five rows of gold embroidery and a row of scrolling vine design around the neckline and front opening.

An outfit similar to this will cost $655 plus shipping in your choice of colors and using pre-made trim $3.00 or less per yard in value.
Shieldmaiden with a Twist version 2
Shieldmaiden With A Twist version 2!  This custom created gown was inspired by Eowyn's shieldmaiden outfit, with the undergown made from hanky weight linen, a white satin overskirt, and a midnight blue cotton velvet vest and waist cincher.  There is silver embroidery on the neckline of the undergown, the neckline and sleeve caps of the vest and the waist cincher has embroidery and quilting in a grid pattern.  The ties and cording are all in silver. See below!

An outfit similar to this will cost $750 plus shipping in your choice of colors and using pre-programmed machine embroidery running stitches that do not require multiple hoopings.  Note: The embroidery on this version of the outfit is vastly simplified from the brown version shown above, which is as close to film-accurate as we can get, and thus this ensemble requires much less labor time to create.
Eowyn Inspired Dream Coat and Gown Inspired by Eowyn's Dream Coat from the extended version of  ROTK, this outer robe was created from pale blue coat weight cashmere wool fully lined in champagne 100% silk satin and trimmed with a faux fur collar.  Underneath is a blue matelasse gown with roses and leaves 'embossed' in the fabric and vintage mother of pearl buttons at the front of the bodice.
